Good News: Final installment for school year 2009-2010The community celebrated its closing prayer service on Thursday, June 17. Rising sophomores, juniors and seniors led and ministered at the service. In song and word, students were given the opportunity to reflect on our rollercoaster year. Rising senior, Rita Callahan concluded her reflection by challenging her peers to consider the gifts that have been shared with them this year, so they can be ready to share […] new and old gifts, and use them to help and lead others.” A power point with images and music reminded us of the challenges and highlights of 2009-2010. Ms. Barnes thanked the students for the gifts they shared to make our community so strong. She also wished them a summer filled with opportunities to step back, rest and relax, spend time doing the fun things they could not do during the school year and most especially to spend time with those they love. It was a beautiful and fitting prayer service for an amazing year. An awards assembly followed our prayer service. Ms. Barnes distributed individual awards in academics, leadership, service and attendance for the school year 2009-2010. It was apparent to all that our students worked hard, led and served the Fontbonne community in a variety of ways and wanted to be in school each and every day (sixty-seven students had perfect attendance). Each year at the closing assembly juniors are presented with Book Awards from colleges and universities who have chosen to honor young women of outstanding achievement.
